About G-Force Design Concepts
At G-Force Design Concepts we specialize in making your automotive performance dreams become realities. Our Pro Touring street rods blend today's technologies into yesterday's classic styling to produce a modern hot rod with the safety, comfort, performance, and reliability of today's modern cars while retaining the classic lines and appeal of the classic muscle car.
G-Force Design Concepts was founded on the premise that automotive performance enthusiasts demand modern performance, reliability, comfort, and safety from their muscle car, but at the same time have a deep appreciation, even affection, for the classic muscle cars of the 60's and 70's. The problem is that the classic cars we love so much are sorely lacking in modern performance, reliability, comfort, and safety. G-Force addresses this need by rebuilding classic muscle cars from the ground up, utilizing modern technology to improve all aspects of the finished car - a modern street rod. The result: a classic muscle car with all modern systems and a customized look that builds on the original without destroying what made the car a classic in the first place.
Classic Muscle Car
Each G-Force Design Concepts car starts with a hand-selected classic muscle car. Although many of these cars are little more than a rolling shell to start with, we examine each candidate from top to bottom. We inspect the candidate vehicle for rust in problem areas particular to that make and model. We pass on any car that suffers from terminal rust or has had serious collision damage. Only the best are accepted as the foundation for a G-Force Design Concepts Pro Touring street rod.
Restoration
We begin by stripping the car to the metal. Any filler, rust, and prior repair work is corrected. We reskin or replace damaged doors, replace weak or rusted parts, and return the shell of the vehicle to top condition. The work is performed while the car is on a rotisserie so nothing is overlooked. The work is done with great care that any repair is better than the original to ensure maximum durability and safety.
Next the car is painted. A show-quality finish is applied not only to the body, as one would expect, but to the engine compartment, trunk, and underside of the car. The interior is primed and painted to prevent future corrosion. Our goal is to prepare the car for another 30-40 years of reliable service.
Under the Car
40 years have brought many advancements in suspension and brake technology. Our cars attribute much of their modern performance characteristics due to the complete upgrade of the systems under the car. Modern horsepower demands a lot of the overall vehicle. All systems must be hardened to handle 300-500 horsepower. Suspension systems must provide the ultimate in handling. The braking system must be able to stop the car quickly and safely. The frame must be reinforced to reduce body flex and ensure that all that horsepower doesn't damage the bodywork.
Suspension
There are a variety of options available when updating the suspension of a classic muscle car. Typically we will replace the antique suspension and steering systems with modern rack-and-pinion steering, variable rate springs, and performance shocks. The car will be lowered to provide a lower center of gravity, better handling, and an aggressive stance. Other options include coil-over systems, mini-tubs to allow larger wheel and tire combinations, and show-quality finish on suspension parts.
Brakes
The brake system is updated to 4-wheel disk brakes with larger rotors and new calipers. There are several options available, from dual-piston calipers up to units suitable for road racing competition. It goes without saying that the original drum brake or disc/drum combinations on these cars is far from adequate for the demands of performance driving.
Frame
Most, if not all, of the cars we work with do not have adequate frame rigidity to handle the typical 300-500 horsepower we put into them. Reinforcement of the frame or subframe is essential to ensuring limited flex and maximum handling and safety. Typically we will install full-length subframe connectors as a starting point. An optional roll bar system will further enhance the rigidity and safety of the car, especially on convertibles.
Power Train
We offer a wide range of power train options. From an updated original engine/transmission/ transaxle to a complete transplant, all of our cars are delivered with a reliable, high-performance drive train. As an example, for a classic Camaro we offer the installation of a Corvette LS-1 and 6-speed manual transmission hooked up to a 12-bolt rear. For our 1967 Mustang Fastback project we chose a 390HP 4.6L dual overhead cam SVT Cobra motor bolted to a Tremec T-56 and a 9-inch Ford transaxle. Our 1966 Mustang, 'Quicksilver', was designed with a brand-new 347 Stroker crate motor and Tremec T-5 transmission with Ford 9-inch transaxle.
Electrical
Since the majority of our cars have updated, computer-managed engines, a modern electrical system is required. This replaces 40-year-old wiring and enables the owner to have modern electrical components installed, such as modern sound systems.
Interior
Our interiors are designed to convey the style of the original car while offering modern comfort, convenience, and safety. Updated components include modern instrumentation, racing-style bucket seats, custom door panels, modern sound systems, and air conditioning.
Wheels & Tires
No Pro Touring street rod would be complete without a drop-dead gorgeous set of wheels. We typically use large, wide wheel and tire combinations from quality manufacturers such as HRE, Budnik, and Khumo.
Modern Muscle
The final product: a high-performance modern Pro Touring stree rod with the classic lines and appearance of the original classic muscle car, the performance of the hottest factory hot rod, and late model reliability. The owner can expect to be able to drive their car every day or take it to the track, run it hard all day, and drive it home in the evening with the stereo playing and the air conditioner blasting cold air into the modern, comfortable cabin.
Complete customer satisfaction is our goal with each build. We strive to understand what each customer is looking for in their car and work with them to make that dream a reality.
