Matt saw G-Force Design Concept's "Fuel" project when it debuted on the Hotrod Magazine Power Tour a couple years ago and was impressed with our attention to detail and sense of style. Soon after we met Matt we began to plan to build a super-bad 1969 convertible, building on the experience and technology used for "Fuel". Matt went looking and found a nice example of a 1969 Camaro Convertible for the project.
DSE's new hydroformed subframe formed the basis of the front suspension. This new subframe is made to accept LS engines and incorporates a splined front sway bar and rack and pinion steering. We also used DSE's great Quadralink rear suspension setup with a 9" rear from Moser Engineering.
Wheels were sourced from Budnik with 18x10's front and 18x12's rear in a brushed finish with polished lip. Michelin PS2 rubber wraps the high-end wheels. Braking is provided by a Baer Brakes Track and Touring kit.
Up front is an L27 427 custom-built by LME in Texas. The engine was worked over with a custom camshaft and head work and a stronger crank and rods. LME's experience with LS engines resulted in a solid 600HP output.

The Tremec T56 tranny is built to withstand 750HP and mounted using an ATS crossmember and hydraulics. We used a tried-and-true Textralia clutch setup that provides awesome clamping force and a soft, effortless clutch pedal.
While the car was apart we smoothed the firewall and install Vintage Air to keep the cockpit cool when the top is up. Instrumentation is from Autometer guages in a DSE dash panel.
The factory front seats were replaced with Recarros covered to match the back seat. A cloth top updated the car from the old vinyl top like they used "back in the day."
Look for Matt's Camaro at shows in the mid-Atlantic, particularly around Virginia. Matt has been very happy with the attention the car gets. Of course he has also had it on the drag strip and autocross. We build our cars to be driven and enjoyed...isn't that why we update them?
